Thank you to all the soldiers who are currently serving our country, who have served in the past, and who have given their lives for our freedom. I actually stole the below from someone else’s post, so it’s not an original thought but I thought I would pass it along all the same.
- In Flanders fields, the poppies blow
- Between the crosses, row on row,
- That mark our place; and in the sky
- The larks, still bravely singing, fly
- Scarce heard amid the guns below…
- We are the Dead. Short days ago
- We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
- Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
- In Flanders fields…
- Take up our quarrel with the foe:
- To you from failing hands, we throw
- The torch; be yours to hold it high.
- If ye break faith with us who die
- We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
- In Flanders fields…
- -Lieutenant Colonel John Alexander McCrae 1915

I am highly ashamed to say, that even though i have close friends in the military, I did not remember that today was veterans day…. Thank you for your poem, I don’t think I will be forgetting again any time soon.
